Branley’s player Connor Johnston and Scott Kallis of Boston Pizza (front) fight for the ball during the second game of the best-of-three Red Deer Men’s Ball Hockey League championship series Tuesday at the Kinsmen Arena. Curtis Nevins scored with 5:21 remaining to give Branley’s a 5-4 win and a 2-0 sweep of the final. Trailing 4-2, Branley’s got goals from Blair Christensen, Justin Fudge and Nevins in the last nine minutes. Paul Rattan and Ross Whitford also scored for the league champs, who were assessed two of three minor penalties, while Blair Kambeitz, Brant Leischner, Adam Carter and Mike Wildeboer tallied for Boston Pizza. Jon Li of Branley’s was named playoff MVP, while four other players were awarded with league trophies following the game — Ryan Rausch of the Canadiens was named top goaltender, Blair Kambeitz was honoured as top defenceman, Jared Kambeitz of Boston Pizza picked up the trophy for top scorer and Lane Wilson of Just Cuts/Minit Lube was named most sportsmanlike player.
