University of Calgary music instructor Gareth Jones works with a group of young musicians at the Alberta Band Camp taking place at Red Deer College this week. Over the next three weeks, about 300 students aged 13-18 will take part in the annual camp to hone their musical chops under the direction of professional musicians and teachers. Each night through the week, performances will be held on the main stage starting out tonight and each night at 8 p.m. with a performance by the University of Alberta Summer Band. On each Saturday afternoon, the students will take to the main stage at 2 p.m. at the Arts Centre. All performances are free of charge and open to the public.
