While Bashaw didn’t take home the grand prize of hosting a mini-Big Valley Jamboree concert on April 28, the town was selected as one of the four runners-up.

Two Central Alberta communities, Bashaw and Stettler, were finalists to host The Small Town Saturday Night contest hosted by the Big Valley Jamboree and Travel Alberta.

Legal, a town 50 km north of Edmonton, was the grand prize winner and will have musicians Dean Brody, Aaron Lines, Duane Steele and Tim Hus, perform in the town.

But Travel Alberta also awarded the four runners-up, Bonnyville, Bashaw, Devon and High River, with $1,000 each, which will be donated toward a charity that was selected in the communities submissions.

The Small Town Saturday Night contest received 53 entries and more than 100,000 votes from Albertans.
