Bentley Generals down Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs

The Bentley Generals fired three second-period goals en route to defeating the host Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs 4-2 Saturday and clinching second place in the Chinook Hockey League with a 16-8-0-0 record.

Scoring for the Generals in their final regular-season outing were Kyle Sheen, Peter Vandermeer, Colin McRae and Chris Falloon. Bentley’s Scott Galenza made 26 saves, while Blake Grenier blocked 32 shots at the other end.

Meanwhile, the Sylvan Lake Admirals wrapped up their regular-season schedule by following up Friday’s 7-4 win over the visiting Innisfail Eagles with a 6-0 loss 24 hours later to the host Stony Plain Eagles.

Jordan McLaughlin and Jordan Ramstead combined to make 40 saves in a losing cause at Stony Plain, where the hosts held a 46-15 advantage in shots.

Cody Esposito and Kurtis Ross each tallied twice against Innisfail, with Brett Wold, Rob Turville and Dan Ehrman also connecting and McLaughlin making 31 saves.

Daryl Blais and Sean Neumeier, with two goals apiece, replied for the visitors. Innisfail netminder Wade Waters was impressive in defeat, turning aside 57 shots.

The Admirals, at 14-10-0, currently sit third in the seven-team league, but could drop to fourth if Stony Plain wins its final regular-season contest Tuesday at Fort Saskatchewan. Innisfail finished last with a 1-21-0-2 slate.
