CALGARY — Passengers on an Air Canada flight from Calgary to Toronto got a big scare when the pilot was forced to abort takeoff when the plane hit a bird.

Emergency crews were called in during the Sunday night incident to help passengers get off the aircraft safely.

Witnesses say they were on the plane for roughly an hour and a half before they were taken off by firefighters.

Two city transit buses were brought in to help transport the passengers back to the terminal building.

Crews also examined the plane and worked to cool off the wheels.

No injuries were reported and passengers were put on a later flight.
