The Town of Blackfalds is still growing by leaps and bounds, according to the results of the last census.

The 2014 municipal census showed the community’s population is now 7,858 — an increase of eight per cent from last year’s count. Blackfalds has some 3,360 residential units and has continually increased demand for development permits.

The last census was conducted from May 1 to June 30, using an online system as well as enumerators going door to door.

It included questions about employment, household income, housing and education to help town leaders make budgetary, economic development and planning decision — as well as determining the town’s infrastructure requirements.
