A day full of winter fun is set for the Monday of the Family Day long weekend in Blackfalds. On Feb. 17 from noon to 5 p.m., numerous events are planned as a part of the town’s winterfest.

A day full of winter fun is set for the Monday of the Family Day long weekend in Blackfalds. On Feb. 17 from noon to 5 p.m., numerous events are planned as a part of the town’s winterfest. Activities include ice sculpting, slides, children’s activities, a fire department-sponsored barbecue, the penguin dip, a hunt for loonies in the snow and door prizes. Everyone is invited back at 7 p.m. for fireworks at All-Star Park. People can also get a sneak peak of the new recreation facility in the community, the Abbey Centre, from noon to 3 p.m.. All of the activities take place in the parking lot of the Abbey Centre, on Womacks Road. A family skate, from 3 to 5 p.m., and bingo, at 3 p.m., will be held at the Multi-plex.
