A 58-year-old Blackfalds man faces child pornography charges after an Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) investigation.

ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation team, along with Blackfalds RCMP, made the arrest on Monday.

The investigation began after ALERT investigators received information from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Co-ordination Centre (NCECC) on child pornography being accessed online.

Staff Sgt. John Guigon with the Internet Child Exploitation team, said child exploitation is prevalent in all communities, big or small.

“By working with our partners, such as Blackfalds RCMP, we can help protect children from across Alberta,” he said.

Anthony Gordon Murray, 58, will be charged with possession, accessing and making available child pornography.

You can help stop the spread of child sexual exploitation by reporting child exploitation offences to www.cybertip.ca, or contact your local police detachment.

ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta government. It is intended as a compilation of the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources committed to tackling serious and organized crime. Nearly 400 municipal police, RCMP and sheriffs work in ALERT.
