BANFF — Searchers say they have found a body near a vehicle owned by a University of Alberta student who has been missing for 11 days in Banff National Park.

BANFF — Searchers say they have found a body near a vehicle owned by a University of Alberta student who has been missing for 11 days in Banff National Park.

RCMP would not confirm if the body is that of Jordan Darda.

“The body was located about two kilometres from the trailhead where the motor vehicle belonging to missing person Jordan Darda was located,” Const. Francine Hennelly said Thursday.

“The body has not been identified and the cause of the death is unknown. At this time there is no indication of foul play.”

Mark Ledwidge, a Parks Canada spokesman, said Darda’s pickup truck was found at the Pinto Lake trailhead on Wednesday morning.

Darda, 20, went camping by himself in the mountains on Sept. 5. He did not leave a note in the truck or tell anyone where he was going.

More than 30 people, two dog teams and a helicopter took part in the search of the remote, rugged area.

It has been raining and the temperature has been about 5 C during the day, dropping to below freezing overnight.
