Residents in West Park will have to boil their water for another few days.
Ron Wardner, Environmental Services Construction and Maintenance Superintendent, said the boil water advisory for 33 homes in West Park will likely be lifted on Sunday or Monday.
The city issued the advisory after a water main broke in the area early Tuesday evening.
Homes on West Park Crescent and West Park Close are asked to boil their water before drinking or cooking until further notice.
Wardner said the advisory was issued as a precautionary measure. He said there is a chance that containments got into the main from the soil before the leak was contained.
“We always want to err on the side of caution,” he said. “We just want to make sure the water is safe.”
Wardner said the city will send off samples on Thursday and Friday to Alberta Health Services to ensure the water is safe to drink.
Crews were flushing the line on Wednesday.
“During that time people can water their lawns or flush their toilets and everything else,” he said. “It’s really just the drinking and cooking.”
City staff are going door-to-door to all affected homes to provide an information package.

West Park Crescent, odd numbers – 5921 to 5945
West Park Crescent, even numbers – 5936 to 5964
West Park Close, even numbers – 5926 to 5934
