TORONTO — Canada’s border agency is crossing off another name on its “most wanted” list of people it has targeted for deportation.
Canada Border Services Agency says a man who came here from Jamaica was arrested Thursday in eastern Toronto after being deemed inadmissible to the country due to “serious criminality.”
The agency says 30-year-old Cory Bygrave is set to be sent back to Jamaica over firearm and drug convictions — the 37th person apprehended after appearing on the “Wanted by the CBSA” list.
The list was launched last year on the CBSA’s website in an effort to better track down individuals sought on deportation warrants over what the agency says are national security concerns, alleged war crimes, organized crime and serious criminality.
Critics says the publicity generated by the list can put those named in it at risk in their country of origin.
The CBSA says it has deported 25 people from the list.
