Air ambulance officials say an 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital in Calgary after he lost his balance and fell off a steer at a riding competition in Olds.

Air ambulance officials say an 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital in Calgary after he lost his balance and fell off a steer at a riding competition in Olds.

The boy was airlifted to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in stable condition after falling off the steer at Olds College on Sunday.

Officials say the boy got his foot caught in a stirrup and was dragged for a bit by the animal.

The extent of the boy’s injuries are not known.
