The Red Deer Carstar Braves opened their NorWest Midget AAA Baseball League season with a 7-0 loss to the Okotoks Dawgs White in Okotoks Saturday.
Tara Oulton opened on the mound for the Braves with Jayden Hutlet finishing the seven-inning contest.
The Braves went into the game with only nine players, including two affiliates. The team was a shorthanded because of provincial volleyball and badminton champions.
They face the Dawgs White again Wednesday at 6:30,p.m. at Great Chief Park.
