Brian Wilson to launch first Canadian tour

Former Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson will really get around Canada next month.

TORONTO — Former Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson will really get around Canada next month.

The legendary California composer says he’ll launch his first-ever concert tour of the country June 15 in Kitchener, Ont.

He’ll then head through Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and end the tour June 28 in Vancouver.

Wilson will perform songs from his latest album, Brian Wilson Re-Imagines Gershwin.

He’ll also pull out a selection of classics from both his and the Beach Boys back-catalogues.

In a statement, Wilson says he’s “thrilled” about the tour.

“I always love visiting and it will be nice to play for my fans across the entire country and to visit places I’ve never been!”

A former chief songwriter and arranger for the Beach Boys, Wilson was behind many of the band’s sunny hits, which also included Help Me, Rhonda, California Girls and Good Vibrations.
