SUFFIELD — The British are coming, the British are coming!

A battle group consisting of the British military’s 5th Battalion — 2,500 soldiers — arrives today at Canadian Forces Base Suffield.

Col. Stewart Carver, commander of British military operations, says the soldiers’ training will include firing live ammunition.

Carver says the majority of British soldiers training in southern Alberta over the next three weeks will be deployed to Afghanistan in early 2011.

The joint Canadian and British base is 45 kilometres northwest of Medicine Hat.
