The Red Deer Buccaneers opened their Alberta Football League exhibition season with a 27-20 come-from-behind victory over the Calgary Gators at Great Chief Park during the weekend.

The Bucs trailed 10-0 at the end of the first quarter before quarterback Byron Stearns rambled in for a touchdown. Marc Bartolf later grabbed a touchdown pass to tie the score at 20-20 and with time running down Marc Glasgow hauled in a pass for the winning points.

The Bucs open their regular season Saturday in Lloydminster.
