A field of more than 35 nominees for the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce 2011 Business of the Year awards has been narrowed to nine.
The Chamber announced on Wednesday the finalists for recognition in its three award categories.
Vying for Business of the Year among employers with 15 or fewer staff are One to 1 Fitness, Collegiate Sports Therapy & Sports Medicine, and Red Deer Discount Golf Centre. For those with 16 to 49 staff, the finalist are Camdon Engineering, LA Radio Group and Doormasters Inc. And in the category for businesses with 50 or more employees, the competition is down to Canyon Ski Resort, Hamill’s Dairy Queen and Peavey Mart (Peavey Industries Ltd.)
The finalists were chosen by an adjudication committee comprised of local business leaders. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 19, during an awards gala at the Red Deer College Arts Centre.
Last year, Restaurant 27 and Lounge was named Business of the Year among organizations with one to 15 staff, CARE Industries Ltd. was Business of the Year in the 16- to 49-employee category, and Scott Builders Inc. topped the field among nominees with 50 or more employees.
