LACOMBE — The City of Lacombe is cracking down on construction noise.

On July 11, Lacombe city council amended the city’s nuisance bylaw after complaints from residents about late-night and early-morning noise from construction sites.

Previously, the operation of tools, machinery and equipment that create noise in residential areas was allowed between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

The bylaw now says that unless permission has been obtained by the chief administrative officer, no person shall use, operate or allow to be used any tools, machinery, or equipment creating a noise or disturbance which may be heard in a residential building before 7 a.m. and after 9 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m. on the weekend.
