EDMONTON — Premier Ed Stelmach has delayed a planned cabinet shuffle by two weeks because of travel plans.

A spokesman for the premier says Stelmach will be leaving on a 10-day trade mission to the Middle East once he returns from his holidays.

Stelmach had planned a mid-term cabinet shuffle next week.

But spokesman Tom Olsen says the premier will only be back from holidays for three days before departing Jan. 14 for the United Arab Emirates.

Olsen says Stelmach did not want to make a major change to his cabinet and then leave the country.

The Alberta legislature resumes sitting next month.
