Cable service still horrible

Here it goes up again — my cable television bill that is. Just got another notice in the mail that my cable service cost is going up by another $4 per month (a 33 per cent increase over the existing cost) for my HD package.

Did I want the extra six channels that the company claims to be offering? No.

Can those who want these channels get them separately? Probably yes.

If these companies can provide specialty sports channels for separate fees (NFL channel, NHL channel) surely they can offer these garbage channels to those willing and stupid enough to want them.

Why should every cable customer be forced to pay for service not wanted?

When I finally got through to the phone numbers provided, I was told that I had two choices: accept the channels and pay or go to another provider. This notion that there are a whole lot of such providers is not the way that government (through the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, CRTC) had hoped for.

We are still being held hostage by a few and it’s time to let a whole bunch of people know you’re not happy. Namely, the cable provider, the CRTC (national and regional offices) and especially your MPs.
