CAEP recognizes local initiatives

Central Alberta Economic Partnership (CAEP) has recognized three local initiatives for their contributions to the region.

The regional economic development alliance announced the recipients of its fourth annual achievement awards this week. Red Deer Regional Economic Development received the Promotion Award for its development of marketing materials under the Central Alberta: Access Prosperity banner; A.C. Dandy Electrical Products Ltd. of Wetaskiwin received the Innovation Award for businesses; and the Town of Ponoka, Ponoka County, Ponoka Stampede & Exhibition Association and Ponoka Agricultural Society received the Collaboration Award for their work on the Ponoka Ag Event Centre.

CAEP has also announced changes to its board for the upcoming operating year. Dennis Cooper, the mayor of Penhold; Richard Horncastle, economic development director with JEDI Alberta; and Karen Grant, a business person in Delburne, have been elected as new directors. Returning to the CAEP board for another term are Joe Gendre, a councillor with the County of Stettler; and Tracey Walker, an Innisfail councillor.

Formed in 1998, CAEP consists of 42 municipal and First Nations band members, and 14 associate members.
