CALGARY — Police in Calgary have charged a father in Calgary with attempted murder after he allegedly slashed his 11-month-old son.

Officers say they responded to a 9-1-1 call to a home early Saturday morning, and found an agitated man and the baby in the home when they arrived.

The man was arrested and the baby was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The child has since been upgraded to stable condition and police say he is expected to make a full recovery.

The 32-year-old father’s name is not being released in order to protect the child’s identity, but he is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.

Police say the baby had been slashed several times.

Investigators say the mother was not home at the time.
