Calgary man dies while inner tubing on closed run at B.C. ski resort

A 27-year-old Calgary man has been killed while sliding on an inner tube at a ski resort in southeastern B.C.

GOLDEN, B.C. — A 27-year-old Calgary man has been killed while sliding on an inner tube at a ski resort in southeastern B.C.

Officials at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, 14 kilometres west of Golden, confirm the incident occurred at around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

They say the man ignored resort rules and was sliding on a closed run.

He was with a group of friends when he veered off the trail and slammed into a wooden fence post.

Members of the group called 911, but the man died a short time later in hospital.

His family has requested that his name not be released.
