EDMONTON — Calgary MLA Kyle Fawcett is Alberta’s new minister of jobs, training, skills and labour.

EDMONTON — Calgary MLA Kyle Fawcett is Alberta’s new minister of jobs, training, skills and labour.

Fawcett has been sworn in during a ceremony at Government House in Edmonton.

Fawcett retains his earlier cabinet job as associate minister in charge of flood recovery in southwestern Alberta.

He says one of his priorities will be to represent Alberta’s interests as the federal government considers changes to the temporary foreign worker program.

Fawcett says the program is important to Alberta, given its booming economy and labour shortages.

The jobs portfolio came open last week when Thomas Lukaszuk resigned to run for the provincial Progressive conservative party leadership.
