CALGARY — It’s a three-way heat in the race to become the new mayor of Calgary.

With 66 of 241 polls reporting, former CTV news anchor Barb Higgins has lost her early lead and is now trailing longtime alderman Ric McIvor and business professor Naheed Nenshi.

Nenshi, who used social networking as his edge in the campaign, has 35 per cent of the vote to McIver’s 33 per cent.

Higgins is at 27 per cent.

In Edmonton, incumbent Stephen Mandel wins a third term.

Voter turnouts in both cities were heavier than last election.
