CALGARY — A Calgary woman has been charged in what police were told may have been a plan to use a bomb on her former boyfriend.

Police say an improvised explosive device was found in the basement of a house in the city’s southwest on Wednesday.

The area was cordoned off and police evacuated nearby homes as a precaution while a device the size of a D battery was disabled.

No one was injured.

Officers have not yet determined where the homemade bomb came from or what it was meant for.
