Camrose man jailed for child porn

WESTASKIWIN — A tip from police in the U.S. has led to a three-year prison sentence for an Alberta man who admitted to his involvement in child pornography.

WESTASKIWIN — A tip from police in the U.S. has led to a three-year prison sentence for an Alberta man who admitted to his involvement in child pornography.

Steven Mackintosh was sentenced Wednesday in a Wetaskiwin courtroom.

The 34-year-old Camrose resident pleaded guilty last fall to possessing child pornography and making it available.

Mackintosh was arrested in December 2009 after a police task force in Virginia alerted the Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation Unit to possible illegal activity.

The tip led to a search of Mackintosh’s computer, which police say contained thousands of child porn images.

Mackintosh faces three years of probation upon his release.
