Canada calls on Manning

Red Deer native Paul Manning will play for Canada at the Deutschland Cup hockey tournament, Nov. 12-14 in Munich, Germany. Manning, who plays for Hannover Scorpions of the German Elite League, is one of eight defencemen on the team made up of players playing in Germany.

Red Deer native Paul Manning will play for Canada at the Deutschland Cup hockey tournament, Nov. 12-14 in Munich, Germany. Manning, who plays for Hannover Scorpions of the German Elite League, is one of eight defencemen on the team made up of players playing in Germany. The 31-year-old attended Colorado College and was a third-round draft pick, and 62nd overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He never played with the Flames, but was with the Columbus Blue Jackets for eight games in the 2002-03 season before heading to German. He played seven years with Hamburg before joining Hannover this season. He has no goals and three assists in 17 games this season.
