Capitals star Alex Ovechkin likely to miss one game with upper-body injury

Washington Capitals two-time league MVP Alex Ovechkin remains day-to-day with an upper body injury.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Washington Capitals two-time league MVP Alex Ovechkin remains day-to-day with an upper body injury.

Coach Bruce Boudreau had few details Monday about the injury, but he indicated Ovechkin might miss Wednesday’s game at New Jersey and would be “more probable” to return for Friday’s game at Florida.

Ovechkin appeared to hurt his left shoulder or left arm in the second period of Sunday’s 5-4 overtime loss to Columbus.

The Capitals did not practise Monday, but Ovechkin was at the practice facility for treatment.

Ovechkin has missed only four games since coming to the NHL in 2005.
