FREDERICTON — A freak accident at a Fredericton city police building has left the structure with tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Sgt. Scott MacKenzie says a security guard driving around on patrol around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday somehow stepped on the gas instead of the brake.

He says that sent his vehicle through the front window and into the main entrance.

The guard was not injured.

MacKenzie says alcohol and drugs were not a factor.

The bizarre accident remains under investigation.
