CALGARY — Calgary police say a suspect in a violent carjacking was injured after jumping from the roof of one building to another in an attempt to avoid capture.

Police say officers responded to a disturbance around 3:30 a.m. in the downtown and found three people tying up the occupants of a vehicle and pepper spraying them.

Two of the suspects were arrested, but a third man fled on foot with police in pursuit.

After ignoring a demand to stop, the man climbed to the roof of a building and jumped across the alleyway to the roof of another building two storeys below.

Police say he suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
