Ringette began in Red Deer in 1978. In the inaugural year, Red Deer only had one team; therefore, an association had to be formed, otherwise the game would not survive in the city.

Since the association was formed, in 1979, the sport of ringette has grown substantially. Thirty-five years later, the Red Deer Ringette Association is proud to have 18 teams that actively compete locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.

If you are involved in, have been involved in, or are interested in being involved in ringette in Red Deer, visit the Red Deer Ringette website for more information on activities that will be taking place on Saturday.

It is important to recognize and celebrate 50 years of ringette in Canada.
