Central Alberta dental hygienist honoured

A registered dental hygienist from Eckville received top honours from the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association for her work in promoting oral health.

Lisa Adair was granted the CDHA/Crest Oral-B Oral Health Promotion Award (individual category) recognizing her promotion of oral health and the profession of dental hygiene in practices, schools or communities through creative initiatives.

Adair actively presents power point educational sessions to a number of groups and organizations around the Red Deer area. She is also the producer and distributor of a DVC called “Oral Hygiene Techniques for Health Providers and Caregivers.”

Adair also runs an independent mobile practice called, Dazzling Whites Mobile Dental Hygiene Services, which services Red Deer and Central Alberta.

The 2012 program received more than 50 submissions. Besides oral health promotion, recipients were honoured in the categories of life membership, distinguished service, leadership, excellence in teaching, global health initiative, achievement, research, and visionary award.

The association represents more than 24,000 registered dental hygienists working in Canada.
