Central loses B final

Central surrendered an overtime goal and fell 5-4 to Calgary North in the B final of the Alberta Cup hockey tournament Sunday.

LETHBRIDGE — Central surrendered an overtime goal and fell 5-4 to Calgary North in the B final of the Alberta Cup hockey tournament Sunday.

Scoring for Central were Mack Differenz of Red Deer, Chandler Klein of Provost, Quentin Greenwood of Delburne and Sundre’s Andrew Perry. Carson Franks of Red Deer and Travis Child of Killam combined to make 21 saves in a losing cause.

Central dropped a 3-1 decision to South in a semifinal Saturday. Clay Lang of Killam notched the lone Central goal, while Child made 18 saves.

Northeast defeated South 5-3 in the championship final of the annual event featuring the top second-year bantam players in the province.
