A 27-year-old Red Deer man has been arrested after assaulting a teacher at Central Middle School on Thursday afternoon.

RCMP were called to the downtown Red Deer school after reports that an intoxicated man had punched a teacher after she told him to leave school premises.

The man made his way through the school, pushing another teacher. When he entered the band room, staff locked him in.

The man damaged a window screen while exiting through the window. RCMP found the man east of the school and took him into custody without further incident. Police say neither teacher suffered serious physical injury.

The incident happened shortly before 2 p.m.

Tristan Palmer Krahn has been charged with two counts of assault, two charges of disturbing the peace, break and enter and unlawful possession of liquor.

He made his first court appearance on Friday in Red Deer provincial court. He will appear in court again on March 13.
