MEDICINE HAT — Two Medicine Hat men have been charged with manslaughter in the death of a man who was assaulted outside a hotel two weeks ago.

Trevor Bergstresser, 38, of Moosomin, Sask., died Sunday.

His girlfriend, Krista Compton, says he gave up his fight for life after 15 days in hospital.

Compton says she, her boyfriend and some other friends had gone to the bar that night to cheer up Bergstresser after the death of his grandmother.

She says there had been no prior altercation but when he went outside for a smoke, she came out a minute later and found him on the ground with a severe head injury.

Clarence Williams, 31, and Jackson Taylor, 22, have been charged with manslaughter.
