Charges are pending after a motorcyclist failed to stop for RCMP and Lacombe Police Service on Hwy 2A.

Red Deer Rural RCMP Cpl. Phil Penny said a motorcyclist failed to stop and was pursed by police on Hwy 2A between Lacombe and Blackfalds at about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

Police allege that the motorcyclist reached speeds of more than 180 km per hour.

Penny said after police called off their chase, the bike ended up hitting the ditch. The motorcyclist took off on foot and he was located by a police dog.

Charges pending include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and operate motor vehicle while being pursued by police.
