Rose Monea and Damian Zapisocky have been chosen to receive 2014 Merit Awards from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA).

Monea, of Heywood Holmes & Partners LLP, is being awarded the Fellow of the Chartered Accountants (FCA) designation. It’s presented for meritorious service and other achievements.

A release issued by the ICAA cited Monea’s volunteer efforts in her community and profession, including board positions with the Red Deer & District United Way, the Women’s Investment Network, the Red Deer Childcare Society and Independent Achievers of Red Deer. She’s also a member of the business advisory board with Red Deer College’s Donald School of Business.

Zapisocky, who works at Studon Electric and Controls Inc., is receiving a Distinguished Service Award. He is being honoured for volunteer service, including his work as past-president of the Central Alberta CA Club and a member of various other ICAA groups.

The 2014 Merit Awards will be presented on June 20 in Edmonton, with 24 Alberta recipients.

The ICAA regulates more than 12,500 CAs and CA students in Alberta.
