Chase Brewster Tourney ready to go

Kin City Arena and the Collicutt Centre will host the Chase Brewster Memorial peewee hockey tournament Friday to Sunday.

Kin City Arena and the Collicutt Centre will host the Chase Brewster Memorial peewee hockey tournament Friday to Sunday.

Formerly known as the Ron MacLean Tournament, the three-day event will feature 20 teams from Red Deer, Calgary, Lethbridge, Airdrie, Rocky Mountain House, High Prairie and other Alberta communities.

The opening games are scheduled for noon Friday at both facilities. Sunday’s games — starting at 7:30 a.m. — will all be played at Kin City, including the division finals at 11:30 a.m.

Chase Brewster passed away last August at the age of 12. He was a sports enthusiast and an active member of the minor sport community in Red Deer. Chase played goal for Red Deer hockey and in-line teams and participated in the Ron MacLean tournament in 2010.
