The Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs split their opening two games of the best-of-five Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League South Division semifinal against the Calgary Flyers.

The Chiefs won 3-0 at home Saturday and dropped a 5-4 decision in overtime in Calgary Sunday.

Jade Petrie, Taryn Baumgardt and Emily Lougheed scored once each Saturday while Jennifer West made 16 saves for the shutout.

On Sunday the Chiefs led 4-3 after 40 minutes on two goals each by Reanna Arnold and Ashley Graf.

The Flyers tied the game at 18:57 of the third period with Erin McKimstry scoring the winner at 3:51 of overtime.

Megan Kirkland finished with 31 saves for Red Deer, who had 31 shots on goal.

The third game goes Friday at 7 p.m. at Kin City Arenas with the fourth game Saturday in Calgary and the fifth, if necessary, Sunday at 12:45 p.m. at Kin City.
