Chiefs tie Blazers

Logan Fisher fired three goals and assisted on another as the Red Deer North Star Chiefs battled the host Calgary Blazers to a 5-5 draw in minor AAA weekend action.

Midget

Logan Fisher fired three goals and assisted on another as the Red Deer North Star Chiefs battled the host Calgary Blazers to a 5-5 draw in minor AAA weekend action.

Scott Ferguson and Tom Vanderlinde also scored for the Chiefs, who got a 21-save performance from Brett Fresneth.

The visiting Chiefs also played to a 7-7 tie with the Calgary Blackhawks as Jayden Rausch tallied twice and Anthony Hamill stopped 29 shots. Ferguson, Fisher, Cole Visser, Taylor Mulder and Evan Ingram also scored for the winners.

• In AA play, the Red Deer Elks posted a 1-2 record while beating the Calgary Canucks 3-1 and flaling 9-3 and 7-2 to the Airdrie Lightning and the Wheatland Chiefs.

Tanner Lomsnes paced the Elks to their lone win with two goals and an assists. Brock Forbes also tallied for Red Deer, while winning goalie Davis Reykdal made 36 saves.

In the loss to Airdrie, Dion Daoust, Justin Corbett and Mitch Lightbown each scored once and Dasan Sydora turned aside 29 shots.

Austin Reeves and Brady Porter scored in the loss to Wheatland, while Reykdal and Sydora combined to make 35 saves.

Midget Girls

Ashley Graf notched the lone goal and Camille Trautman was flawless in net as the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs blanked the visiting Highwood Raiders 1-0 in major female action during the weekend.

The Chiefs didn’t go as easy on the Spruce Grove Saints, dominating the hosts in a 12-3 rout. Graf sniped four goals and collected five assists, while Janelle Froehler had two goals and six assists and linemate Jade Petrie scored twice and added three helpers as the Chiefs held a comfortable 56-21 edge in shots.

Bantam

Michael Pruss scored twice and set up two goals Ramada downed the Steel Kings 9-1 and an all-Red Deer AA contest.

Also scoring for the winners were Jesse Muirhead, Blake Barre, Justin Van Tetering, Josh Ho, Braden Burnett and Mack Differenz, who added two assists.

Kale Howarth scored the lone Steel Kings goal.

• The Red Deer Frontier Chiefs, with Declan Johnston recorded a hat trick and adding one assist, defeated Sundre 6-0 in preseason A action.

Brody Kalinowski, Kyden Trozzo and Blake VanderLinden added single goals. Matthew Atchison and Zane Steeves shared the shutout.

Peewee

The Red Deer Parkland Transmission Chiefs recorded a win and a tie in AA weekend play, doubling the Wheatland Braves 4-2 at Strathmore and playing to a 6-6 draw with the Airdrie Lightning.

Tyler Wall, with two goals, Jeff de Wit and Brenan Frame scored against Wheatland. Westin Cardwell recorded the win with 17 saves.

In the tie with Airdrie, the Chiefs got two goals from Luke Coleman and singles from de Wit, Nathan Kartusch, Louis Leclerc and Michael Kellough. Dawson Weatherill stopped 38 shots for Parkland.
