A young boy is in hospital with minor injuries after falling from a second-storey balcony at West Edmonton Mall this morning.

EDMONTON — A young boy is in hospital with minor injuries after falling from a second-storey balcony at West Edmonton Mall this morning.

The three-year-old boy climbed a railing in the mall’s second level at about 11:30 and fell over the side.

Police say the boy struck the walkway below and then rolled into a nearby fountain.

Paramedics and firefighters responded to the accident and the boy as taken to hospital, where he remains for observation.

Police say the boy’s family was with him when he fell.
