VANCOUVER — Cheryl Bernard is no longer perfect at the Vancouver Olympics.

The Canadian curler dropped a 6-5 extra-end decision to China’s Wang Bingyu Sunday night.

Wang, the reigning world champion, took control of the match early by scoring two in the first end with a well-executed double takeout.

She eventually upped her lead to 4-1, but Bernard chipped away, scoring singles in the fifth, sixth and seventh ends to knot the game at four.

Bernard forced an extra end with a double takeout in the 10th but couldn’t sneak her final stone into the house in the 11th, giving Wang the win.

In other women’s action Sunday night, Sweden defeated the United States 9-3 and Germany beat Japan 7-6. With the loss, Canada’s record falls to 5-1 and Bernard is now tied for first place with the Swedes.
