City didn’t inform residents of Clearview Ridge plans

I am a homeowner in Clearview Ridge. I am completely in favour of affordable housing, when it is transparent, clear and the intentions well known.

What I am not in favour of is the lack of information that has been shared regarding the proposed plans for the friendship centre and housing development.

I also reviewed the City of Red Deer website, looked at all of the neighbourhood plans and discussed with my builder exactly what was planned for the neighbourhood. There was no mention of this development.

I feel that I did my due diligence in reviewing those documents prior to purchasing my home. I feel that the information was vague, incomplete and purposefully so.

As a homeowner, I made the choice to spend my money in this neighbourhood. I feel that I had the right to know what was planned for my neighbourhood.

In my opinion, this plan should be scrapped and another location in a new neighbourhood chosen. This time, there could be clear signage on the land, and clearly marked in all literature about the neighbourhood so that all interested parties have the information they require to make informed choices before they build their homes.
