Committee struck on oilsands transportation

FORT MCMURRAY— The Alberta government has appointed a committee to review current and future transportation needs in the oilsands region.

FORT MCMURRAY— The Alberta government has appointed a committee to review current and future transportation needs in the oilsands region.

The panel will make recommendations to the province based on its findings.

The committee will be made up of municipal, industry and provincial officials.

Members will include representatives from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the Oil Sands Developers Group, the Alberta Economic Development Authority, the Fort McMurray Airport Authority and the Northern Alberta Development Council.

The committee is to meet a minimum of four times a year to consider all aspects of road, rail and air transportation.
