Interested parties can get a sneak peek at the 2012 Red Deer community sport awards finalists at www.reddeer.ca.
Nominees in the 13 categories include RDC cross-country running star Jodi Sanguin, former Red Deer Rebels Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and golf’s Brett Pasula.
The 2012 Red Deer Community Sports Awards Banquet, presented by the Red Deer Primary Care Network, will take place March 9 at the Sheraton. Tickets are $35 each and available at the Recreation Centre.
The banquet honours individuals and groups who excel in their sport and also those who volunteer their time and effort to better the community.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.
Olympic gold medalist wrestler, Carol Huynh, is the guest speaker.
