Cougars, Raiders final set

The Stettler Cougars and Lacombe Raiders will meet in the Central Football League’s bantam division championship final.

The Cougars remained undefeated on the season with a 74-6 win over the Sylvan Lake Lions, who had only 21 players dressed because of the flu.

The Raiders beat Lindsay Thurber 44-0.

Braden Nelson led Stettler with three touchdowns and 133 yards rushing while Bryce Fisher and Mark Forrester added two touchdowns each and Nicholas Baharally, Ty Page and Parker Cassidy one apiece. Curtis Craddock scored the lone touchdown for the Lions.

The two will meet in the final and for the provincial Tier II representative Saturday in Stettler.

Meanwhile, the Olds Bulldogs and Notre Dame Cougars will clash in the Tier III championship final.

Olds beat Springbank 24-2 and Notre Dame downed Hunting Hills 26-8.

The Wetaskiwin Warriors will host the Strathmore Spartans in the zone Tier IV finals. The Warriors downed Rocky Mountain House 27-0 while the Spartans had a bye.
