Cougars, Sabres split in JV hoop

The Notre Dame Cougars and the Wetaskiwin Sabres split a Central Alberta Junior Varsity Basketball League doubleheader Wednesday.

The Notre Dame Cougars and the Wetaskiwin Sabres split a Central Alberta Junior Varsity Basketball League doubleheader Wednesday.

The Cougars won the boys’ contest 80-47 while the Sabres recorded a 51-42 decision in girls’ action.

Maurice Evangelista led the Cougars with 16 points while Julien Boothby and TJ Carter added 12 each. Carlo Canton had 21 points for the Sabres.

Chantelle Gamez had 16 points and Mary Krause 12 for the Wetaskiwin girls while Angela Menjivar had 15 points and Paige Watson eight for the Cougars.
