The Notre Dame Cougars captured gold and silver in their annual Cougar Classic senior volleyball tournament Saturday.
The Cougars won the girls’ title with a 25-23, 25-14, 26-24 decision over William Aberhart of Calgary and then boys finished second to the top-ranked team in the province, Dr. E.P. Scarlett of Calgary, 3-0.
The Notre Dame girls’ reached the final with a 3-0 win over Bow Valley of Cochrane while Aberhart stopped Paul Kane of St. Albert 3-2.
The boys’ semifinals saw Notre Dame down William Aberhart 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12. and Scarlett stop Ross Sheppard of Edmonton 3-0.
