Close to 1,000 people in Red Deer County, Lacombe County and near Joffre are without power Wednesday morning.

Crews from Fortis Alberta were dispatched after outages were reported at about 10 a.m. to 989 customers.

Though a cause has yet to be determined and there is no estimate for when power would come back on, Fortis believes lightning to have played a role in the outages.
